a) Information you give us directly

• Account registration — name, email address, and optionally phone number when you sign up via Google or OTP.
• School reviews — your written review, ratings, child's class, and relation to the school.
• School enquiries — name, email, phone, child details, and message submitted through an enquiry form.
• Event registrations — name, email, phone, child details, and any message when you register interest for an event.
• School claims — your name, email, phone, and message when you claim a school listing on behalf of an institution.
• Newsletter — email address when you subscribe.
• Profile information — city, children details (ages, classes) that you optionally complete in your profile.

b) Information collected automatically

• Usage data — pages visited, search queries, schools saved or compared, and time spent on pages.
• Device & browser data — IP address, browser type, operating system, and referring URL.
• Cookies — session cookies required for authentication, and optional analytics cookies.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide, maintain, and improve the EduTribe platform.
• To personalise school recommendations based on your city and preferences.
• To send your school enquiry to the relevant school or school manager.
• To process event registrations and share your details with the event organiser.
• To notify you of updates to schools you've saved, reviews you've written, or claims you've submitted.
• To send newsletters and platform updates (you may unsubscribe at any time).
• To enforce our Terms & Conditions and moderate content.
• To comply with applicable laws and legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for automated profiling or AI-based decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

3. Sharing of Information

We share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

• School managers — when you submit an enquiry to a school, your contact details and message are shared with the verified manager of that school.
• Event organisers — when you register interest for an event, your registration details are shared with the organiser of that event.
• Service providers — third-party vendors who help us operate the platform (hosting, email delivery, analytics). These providers are contractually bound to protect your data and may not use it for their own purposes.
• Legal requirements — when required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of EduTribe or its users.

4. Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you logged in (JWT session cookies). We may also use analytics cookies (e.g. Vercel Analytics or similar) to understand how users navigate the platform. These analytics cookies do not track you across third-party sites. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though this will affect your ability to stay signed in.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Reviews, enquiries, and event registrations are retained to maintain the integrity of the platform. If you request deletion of your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.

6. Security

We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures — including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed credentials, and access controls — to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children's Privacy

EduTribe is intended for use by parents and guardians, not by children directly. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 years of age. If you believe your child has provided us with personal data without your consent, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Delete your account and associated personal data.
• Withdraw consent for marketing communications at any time by clicking "unsubscribe" in any email.
• Object to processing of your personal data in certain circumstances.

9. Third-Party Links

Our platform may contain links to school websites, external registration pages, and social media profiles. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third-party sites. We encourage you to read their privacy policies before sharing any information.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email or a prominent notice on the platform. The effective date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version. Continued use of EduTribe after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
