Experiences with Prakriya Green Wisdom School

My kids have finished their schooling at Prakriya. I have noticed that during the interaction process, the school focuses a lot on understanding how closely a family aligns with their values and lifestyle. I would love to hear from other parents about how you felt during these sessions and if you found the process helpful or a bit overwhelming.

My son is in Grade 7 now, and looking back, the initial interaction was spot on. They are looking for parents who will not constantly question the non-traditional teaching methods. Were you nervous during your session?

It is definitely a bit overwhelming, especially if you are not used to such open-ended questions about parenting. My suggestion is to just be yourselves. If you aren't into a zero-waste lifestyle or deep spiritual practices, don't pretend to be, because it’s hard to keep up that facade for 12 years of schooling!

It was definitely overwhelming for us initially. We were worried about saying the 'wrong' thing, but I have seen that they just want to ensure the school and home environment are in sync. Did they ask you about your screen time policies? That was a major discussion point during our interaction.

I found the sessions quite refreshing. It wasn't just 'are you rich enough,' but rather 'do you share our vision for the child's growth.' It helped us realize if we were ready for their kind of ecosystem.

I found the process quite refreshing, actually. Most other schools in the city only care about your donation or the child's academic test scores, but Prakriya really takes the time to see if the family will be a supportive partner in their community. It felt very intentional.

Honestly, the session felt more like an interview for us parents than for our daughter! At first, I felt a bit pressured to answer everything 'correctly' according to their philosophy, but then I realized they just want to ensure the school's eco-conscious approach matches what we practice at home. Once we stopped overthinking and just spoke honestly about our lifestyle, it went much smoother.

It’s a long process, but it pays off when you see the school environment. I felt a little judged initially, but I think that was just my own anxiety. Just stay calm and focus on why you want this specific environment for your children.

We went through the same process last year. Honestly, it felt a bit like an interview for us parents rather than the child! They really probe into your parenting style and whether you agree with their no-exam/no-homework philosophy. My advice is to just be completely honest; if you’re someone who insists on tuition classes and heavy academics, you might find their lifestyle a mismatch anyway.
