· Bengaluru2d agoI have seen many students regret taking Computer Applications because the theory part becomes very tedious in 10th grade. There is a lot of rote learning involved for definitions and technical terminology. Unless the child specifically wants to pursue Engineering or CS later, I would recommend a lighter subject to reduce the burden.

· Bengaluru1d agoIs this for CBSE or ICSE? In our school, the ICSE syllabus for Computer Applications is quite heavy on theory and technical concepts, so I would suggest opting for it only if your child has a genuine interest. My son struggled a lot in the beginning because he wasn't naturally inclined towards coding, and it ended up eating into his time for Math and Science.

· Bengaluru1d agoIn my opinion, don't take it if the child is already struggling with Maths or Science. It is quite logic-heavy and can be overwhelming during Board exam preparation if they don't have a natural flair for coding. Better to choose an easier elective if you want to protect their aggregate marks.

· Bengaluru11h agoMy daughter took it in 10th and honestly, it helped boost her overall percentage because the practicals are very high-scoring. If your child is hardworking, they can easily get 95+ without much stress. Just ensure they practice the Java programs regularly from the start instead of leaving it for the last month.

· Bengaluru9h agoMy son is in 10th currently and he says it is his favourite subject! It’s much better than memorizing history dates. If your child enjoys logic, go for it.

· Bengaluru5h agoIs this for ICSE or CBSE? Our school offers it as an optional subject, and I've seen that kids who attend regular tuition for it find it very manageable. I suggest you try looking at the syllabus for 9th grade first; if your child finds the basics interesting, they will definitely sail through 10th.

· Bengaluru4h agoMy son opted for it and loved it, but yes, it is not a 'light' subject. If the child is not interested, it will become a burden during board prep. Better to check if your school allows a trial period for the first month!

· Bengaluru2h agoHonestly, my daughter took Computer Applications in 9th and she found it quite scoring compared to Hindi or other optional subjects. If your child is good with logical thinking and doesn't mind a bit of coding, it’s a very easy way to boost the overall aggregate percentage. Just ensure they practice the Java programs regularly so they don't get overwhelmed before the boards.
