Do preschools accept admissions throughout the year?

I wanted to check if most preschools accept new students at any time of the year, or if they strictly stick to the start of the academic term. We missed the initial window for enrollments, so I am wondering if it is still possible to get my child admitted now or if we have to wait for the next cycle. Any advice or experiences would be helpful.

Don't worry too much, many private play schools work on a rolling admission basis. I suggest you try visiting a few nearby branches this week. Are you looking for a specific curriculum like Montessori or Reggio, or just any good playgroup?

It really depends on the school policy. Some strictly follow the term, but honestly, it’s worth a shot to drop by and ask. Have you shortlisted any specific schools yet?

My son joined his preschool three months after the term started last year, so it is definitely possible. Just be prepared that they might ask you to pay the full annual fees or a prorated amount depending on the school's management. Don't worry, just start calling the schools in your area tomorrow morning!

Hi, most preschools are actually quite flexible! When we moved cities mid-session last year, my daughter’s school admitted her immediately as they had a couple of vacant spots. Just go and speak to the admin office directly; they usually accommodate if the class isn't full.

It really depends on the school's policy. Some reputed chains follow a strict academic calendar, but smaller play schools usually welcome admissions throughout the year if they have space. Have you checked if they have a mid-term fee structure?

When we moved cities mid-year, I just called up the admin office directly and they were happy to accommodate my daughter since they had a few seats vacant. I suggest you visit the school in person rather than emailing, as it’s much easier to negotiate and see the setup once you are there.

My son joined his playschool in October because we had some personal issues during the April intake. They did charge us a pro-rated fee, so make sure you negotiate that if they ask for the full year's payment!

From my experience, the big brand chains like Kangaroo Kids or EuroKids usually have strict academic calendars, but smaller boutique preschools in residential areas are almost always open for mid-year admissions. Just call them up, they will definitely entertain you if they have space.
