Are schools in Bangalore doing enough for students who need extra help?

I feel like none of the schools in Bangalore are using the right approach to support kids who are struggling with specific subjects. It seems like the focus is always on finishing the syllabus rather than helping students who are falling behind. Has anyone else felt this way? How are you handling this with your child's teachers?

Completely agree with you. In our school, the teachers are under such immense pressure to finish the portion that they barely look at the students who aren't catching up. I had to start sending my daughter for extra coaching outside because the school didn't provide any remedial support despite me raising this issue multiple times.

True, syllabus completion is the only priority for them these days. I stopped relying on the school completely and enrolled my son in a local tuition centre; at least they have the patience to explain the basics properly.

Have you tried scheduling a direct meeting with the subject teacher? Sometimes, if we push them politely but firmly during the PTM, they agree to give a few extra worksheets or guidance after hours. It is extra work for us, but it often helps bridge the gap.

I think it really depends on the school management's policy on 'Inclusive Education'. My nephew’s school in Whitefield has a dedicated special educator, so you might want to look into schools that prioritize that if this is a recurring problem.

I completely agree with you. In our school, the teachers are under so much pressure to complete the portion that they barely pause if a child hasn't understood a concept. My daughter was struggling with Math in grade 6, and honestly, the school offered zero support despite multiple meetings. I had to finally hire a private tutor to bridge the gap, but I feel that shouldn't be the solution when we are paying such high fees. Are you looking into after-school centers or just hoping the school will step up?

Try speaking to the subject HOD directly rather than just the class teacher. I did this for my son and it made a huge difference.

That is the harsh reality of most top-tier schools here; they are just 'syllabus-finishing' machines. I have seen that if you keep emailing the coordinator consistently, they eventually give some attention, but it is exhausting for parents. Don't wait for them to notice your child's struggle; you have to be the one to push for extra remedial classes.

It is exactly the same situation in my son's school. They are just chasing marks and report cards. I have started sitting with him for two hours every night, but honestly, it is exhausting and not a long-term solution. Is anyone using any good online tutors for 8th-grade Math?
