Prioritizing student safety over costs

I feel we need to prioritize our children's safety above everything else. It is unfair to blame schools and teachers only after an incident occurs. For me, my child's security is far more important than saving 150 rupees. Let's focus on what truly matters before it's too late.

150 rupees is nothing compared to our children’s lives. I am with you on this.

Very true. Has anyone checked if the current school security guards are actually certified by a security agency or just local hires? That might be a good first question to ask the principal.

Totally agree with you. I always tell my daughter’s school management that even if they increase the term fee by a small margin, it should go directly into upgrading CCTV coverage and background verification for the support staff. I have seen that once the school conducts surprise audits, the staff becomes much more alert, so maybe we should suggest a monthly safety audit instead of just complaining.

You are right, but money isn't the only solution. My son's school recently started an app-based check-in system for anyone entering the premises, which makes a huge difference. Have you asked if your school is willing to implement something like that? It costs very little but gives us so much peace of mind.

Totally agree with you. I always tell my daughter’s class teacher that I am happy to pay a little extra for the school transport upgrade if it means better GPS tracking. What exactly are you proposing we do? Should we approach the PTA head together?

It is easy to cut corners until something goes wrong, but by then it is always too late. My son’s previous school had a very lax gate policy, and after I raised the issue in the annual meeting, they finally installed CCTV cameras at every exit. Please don't back down on this issue, let's keep pushing the management.

Well said. Safety shouldn't be a luxury for our kids.

Absolutely valid point. In our school, we insisted on a background verification report for all the support staff last year. It cost us a nominal amount per student but gave us such peace of mind.
