Thoughts on the switch to IB-MYP?

Has anyone else noticed the move toward the IB-MYP curriculum? It’s not a very common choice here in India and very few schools offer it, so I’m curious why the shift is happening now. Does anyone have experience with this program or know why the school chose it over the standard boards? Would love to hear your thoughts on whether this is a good move for our kids.

My son is in his second year of MYP. It’s great for critical thinking, but do keep in mind that moving back to a state board or CBSE later can be a bit of a shock transition-wise. Are you planning for him to go abroad for undergrad?

We moved our daughter to an MYP school last year, and honestly, the shift is huge. The focus on inquiry and projects is much better than the rote learning in CBSE, but be prepared for a lot of late nights. The workload is intense, but she is actually enjoying the research aspect now.

It's a big investment for sure. I would suggest you try visiting the campus during a working day to see how the kids are interacting in class. My nephew goes to one and he seems much more confident in expressing his opinions now.

I’ve been tracking this trend too. Many schools are doing this to stay 'international' and justify higher fee structures, but check if the teachers are actually trained for it. An IB program is only as good as its faculty.

I’m quite skeptical about the switch. How will they manage the transition to NEET or JEE prep later? I feel these international boards are not aligned with our competitive exam culture at all.
