Suggestion for offline parent meetings

Namaste everyone. I have a small suggestion regarding our upcoming meetings. While I understand that travel can be difficult for many, I really feel that meeting in person would be much more effective. If it is manageable, could we consider holding these sessions offline? I believe it would make our discussions much more productive and help us connect better as a community.

That is a nice thought, but please consider the working parents too. Many of us are stuck in office till 7 PM and travelling to school on a weekday is honestly impossible for me. Maybe we can do a hybrid model where those who can attend physically do, and the rest can join via Zoom?

I prefer offline too, especially for the PTMs. It is much easier to discuss my son's progress with the class teacher face-to-face rather than over a 5-minute call. Are you planning to propose this at the next meeting?

Good suggestion! Being offline definitely makes it easier to voice concerns without the awkward 'you are on mute' moments. I would suggest we keep it to a weekend so that both mothers and fathers can attend, as usually it is only the moms who end up joining the online calls.

If you want to suggest this, you should email the PTA coordinator first. Last year, our class had a similar offline session and the attendance was very poor because of the traffic in this area. Perhaps a Saturday morning meeting would work best for most of us?

I completely agree with you. Virtual meetings often have so many network issues and people keep their cameras off, so it feels like we are just talking to blank screens. My daughter is in Grade 4 and I have seen that personal interaction really builds better rapport between teachers and parents.
