Do you also refer to other textbooks besides NCERT?

· Bengaluru2d agoI used to do this in the younger grades, but now I prefer sticking to the school prescribed text to avoid confusing the kids. Too many books just add unnecessary weight to their bags and stress to their minds. Better to master one book properly, I feel.

· Bengaluru1d agoMy son is in grade 8 and our school strictly follows NCERT, but I’ve noticed the concept explanation can be quite dry. I usually supplement with Lakhmir Singh for Physics; it makes the topics much easier to visualize. Do you find your child struggling with the language in NCERT?

· Bengaluru1d agoWe do refer to other boards' books, especially for English grammar and Math. ICSE books are generally more detailed, so I keep a few as reference at home. It definitely helps when the teacher asks slightly twisted questions in the exams!

· Bengaluru19h agoHonestly, NCERT is fine for basics, but for Math and Science, it really isn't enough for competitive exams later on. I personally get RD Sharma for my daughter because the practice problems in NCERT are just too few. Have you tried checking the exemplar books too?

· Bengaluru5h agoGood point. I find that the NCERT back-exercises are often repeated in school tests, so we always finish those first. Only after that, we move to additional reference books for extra practice. It’s all about finding the right balance so the child doesn't get burnt out.
