Feedback on Vibgyor School for UK-returned students

My sister-in-law moved to Bengaluru from the UK two years ago, and her daughter has been attending Vibgyor School since then. She was recently sharing some concerns about the curriculum and settling in. I wanted to check if any other parents here have experience with the school, especially those who moved from abroad. How has your experience been in terms of academics and support?

Honestly, after coming from the UK, any CBSE school in India will feel quite rigid. My niece struggled for a bit, but she eventually got used to the pace. Have you considered looking into international boards like IB or IGCSE instead? They might be a smoother transition for a child used to the UK education system.

Is this for the Whitefield branch or the Haralur one? The management style varies a lot between branches. We had some issues with support for our son, but after we spoke directly to the coordinator, things improved significantly.

We are at Vibgyor too. The curriculum is very competitive, so tell your sister-in-law not to panic if the first term report card isn't great. It takes at least a full academic year for kids to adjust to the Indian school culture.

Hi, we moved from London to Bangalore last year and put our daughter in Vibgyor. Honestly, the transition for kids returning from the UK can be quite a shock because the syllabus here is way more rote-learning focused than what they are used to. My suggestion is to hire a home tutor for the first six months specifically for Math and Hindi, as those are the subjects where she might feel left behind initially.

I have a different experience. My son joined Vibgyor in Grade 4 after moving back from Manchester and he settled in quite well. The school is decent, but please do not expect much hand-holding from the teachers regarding the cultural adjustment. You have to be proactive and attend all the parent-teacher meetings to ensure she isn't falling through the cracks.
