Is the India Book of Records worth the cost?

I was thinking of applying for the India Book of Records for my daughter, but they quoted me ₹14,000 for the process. It honestly feels a bit too expensive for what it is. Has anyone else gone through this or paid for these recognitions? I’m wondering if it’s actually worth the money or if it’s just a waste.

Have you checked if there are other, more recognized bodies? We looked into it for my daughter's painting, but realized that unless it’s a world record or a Guinness entry, these private Indian record books don’t really hold much value in the long run. I suggest you save that money and invest it in a professional coaching class for her hobby instead.

Honestly, don't waste your hard-earned money on this. I paid for it back in 2021 thinking it would help with school admissions, but the management didn't even blink an eye at the certificate. It’s just a glorified souvenir, and frankly, 14k is way too much for a piece of paper that collects dust on the shelf.

Total waste of money, dear. Please avoid it.

My son did it last year for cubing, and while he was very excited to get the medal, I agree that the process feels like a commercial racket. If your daughter is genuinely talented at something, try national-level competitions instead; they carry much more weight for her profile and don't cost a fortune.

I was in your shoes last year and decided to skip it. I spoke to our school counselor, and she mentioned that these 'records' don't add any advantage for board marks or competitive exams. Better to build a proper portfolio with her volunteering work or projects that actually show her skill progression over time.
