· Bengaluru2d agoI have seen that most parents don't stress over the Kannada part because the French curriculum is quite robust. If your child is new to it, maybe check if they have beginner-level classes, or you could request a meeting with the language coordinator to see how they integrate it into the timetable.

· Bengaluru2d agoMy son is currently in Grade 10 at Ekya. Don't worry too much about the Kannada exams—the focus there is more on international languages like French or Spanish for the actual IGCSE certification. If you are specifically looking for strong Kannada proficiency, you might have to supplement with external tuitions, but the school teachers are quite helpful if you reach out to them directly.

· Bengaluru2d agoHi, my daughter is in Grade 9 there. You are right, Kannada is offered as a second language but it is more of a conversational module rather than a full-fledged IGCSE board exam subject. The school keeps it compulsory until Grade 8 as per state norms, but for IGCSE, it doesn't count towards your final board scores. Hope this helps clarify!

· Bengaluru1d agoExactly what I was wondering too. Following this thread! Also, if they aren't doing formal exams, do they at least give a certificate of completion? It would be good for the kids to have something on record if we move to a different board later.

· Bengaluru11h agoWe moved from a CBSE school to Ekya and were also confused by this. It’s basically internal assessment based on class participation and simple projects. It’s not stressful at all, which is a relief for the kids since the IGCSE workload is already quite high!
