Is the school curriculum too academic-heavy?

I feel like our school is becoming extremely academic-oriented and rigorous lately. Does anyone else feel like the workload is getting a bit too intense for the kids? Would love to hear how you all are managing this or if you have any thoughts on the current approach.

My strategy has been to enroll my kid in some physical activity right after school. It helps him vent out all that frustration from the heavy academic pressure. It’s hard, but we have to find a balance somewhere.

I completely agree with you! My daughter is in Grade 5 and she comes home so exhausted that she hardly has energy for her evening cricket practice. I have started speaking to other parents to see if we can collectively request the principal to reduce the frequency of mid-term assessments.

Try not to stress too much about the daily homework. I usually sit with my son for an hour and we prioritize the main subjects, while letting go of some of the optional assignments. Have you checked if your child's class teacher is open to feedback?

It is definitely getting out of hand. I’ve noticed that even the weekend projects are becoming quite complex, leaving no time for family outings. Does anyone else feel like the school syllabus is trying to cover too much in too little time?

Honestly, this is just how it is these days. If we don't push them now, how will they survive the competition in coaching classes later? My son is in 8th and he’s been doing three hours of extra study daily, but he is coping fine once we set a strict timetable.
