Is this subject mandatory for CBSE Class 9?

I have seen this confusion often. ICSE mandates it for all, but for CBSE, it is only mandatory if it is listed as your child's 6th subject. Please check the student portal or the report card format of the previous batch to see how they have categorized it.

Hi, in our school for CBSE Class 9, they have made it optional as an internal assessment but not a main subject. Usually, CBSE schools have more flexibility compared to ICSE. My elder one did CBSE and never touched that subject. It shouldn't be a problem unless your school has specifically added it as a skill subject.

My daughter is in CBSE 9th grade and she doesn't have this subject at all. I think you are right, it is mostly an ICSE requirement. Are you planning to switch boards later? If so, better to check if it creates any credit issues.
