Is opting for Sanskrit as a second language a good idea?

I've noticed many CBSE schools here in Bangalore are offering Sanskrit as a second language. I'm a Sanskrit teacher myself, and I personally recommend going for it. If any parents have questions or want to know more about the benefits, feel free to reach out and message me!

That is interesting! My son’s school only offers Kannada or Hindi, but I wish they had Sanskrit. Do you think it is easy for a child to pick up if we don't speak it at home at all?

I have seen many kids struggle with the complex declensions in higher grades, so please consider the workload. Is it really better for their future than a foreign language like German, which might help them with university applications abroad?

My daughter is in grade 6 and we opted for Sanskrit. Honestly, it has helped her base in Hindi improve significantly, and she finds the grammar patterns much easier than French or German. It is definitely a great choice if you want them to stay connected to our roots.

Does the school provide extra coaching for those who haven't studied it in primary school? I am worried my daughter might lag behind since she is currently doing Hindi as her second language.

We chose Sanskrit for my eldest and he absolutely loves it. It is very scoring in the CBSE board exams, which really helps in boosting the overall CGPA. I would suggest you try it for at least one year and see how your child manages the shlokas.
