Do we really need permission to homeschool?

· Bengaluru2d agoI have seen many parents talk about this, but honestly, where will the kids get social exposure? My son is in a standard private school and even with the pressure, he learns how to manage different types of people. Are you planning on joining any homeschooling co-ops to handle the sports and group activities part?

· Bengaluru2d agoHi, my sister actually pulled her daughter out of ICSE last year to homeschool. She didn't need 'permission' from the school, but she did have to register her daughter for the NIOS board exams to ensure she gets a valid certificate for 10th and 12th grade. Without that, college admissions will be a real headache later on, so please look into that process first.

· Bengaluru2d agoIt is technically a grey area in India, but the Right to Education Act does not explicitly ban it. Just be careful about the curriculum you pick, because if you ever decide to put the child back into a formal school, the gap in their syllabus might make it very difficult for them to catch up.

· Bengaluru2d agoTotally agree with you, the school rat race is just too much these days. We started 'unschooling' our daughter last year and she is so much happier, but it requires a lot of discipline from us parents to actually sit and teach them daily. Do you have a plan for how you will handle subjects like Physics or Chemistry once they reach high school level?

· Bengaluru15h agoGreat initiative! If you do go ahead, start by checking the NIOS website for the registration dates. It is the safest route for homeschoolers in India.
