· Bengaluru2d agoFrom what I have seen, most schools permit Hindi as a second language and Sanskrit as a third language, but rarely two regional ones simultaneously due to timetable clashes. My elder one took Hindi for years, and we found it much easier for board exams since there are more resources and tutors available in the city.

· Bengaluru2d agoI was in the same boat last year! My son wanted to take Sanskrit, but the school insisted on Kannada as the mandatory regional language for state board compliance. It really depends on whether your school follows CBSE or ICSE guidelines, as the board rules often dictate these combinations.

· Bengaluru2d agoJust call the admin office tomorrow morning, they are usually quite prompt with these subject queries. Don't rely on the kids to bring the circular home, as they often miss the fine print about language electives.

· Bengaluru1d agoHi, in our daughter’s school, they usually allow a second language choice only from the 'Indian Languages' bucket, but you cannot pick two regional languages at the same level. Usually, it is English plus one second language (Hindi/Kannada) and sometimes a third language until class 8. I suggest you check the school handbook or email the class teacher directly to avoid last-minute confusion.

· Bengaluru3h agoDoes anyone know if they offer bridge courses for kids switching languages? My nephew is moving from Delhi and only knows Hindi, and I am worried about him coping with Kannada here.
