Hi everyone, I’m just curious to hear from those who have decided to move their children out of the IB curriculum. What were your main reasons for the switch and how did the transition go? Would love to get some honest feedback from other parents here.

Just make sure the school you move to has a good bridge program. We moved our son to an IGCSE board and the school offered extra classes for two months to help him catch up on the syllabus. Don't rush the decision without talking to the principal first.

IB is great for overall personality, but if your goal is JEE or NEET, please move them out by grade 9 at the latest. My nephew struggled a lot with the change in exam pattern because he was used to open-book style assessments.

We switched to ICSE three years ago. The best decision for us because IB felt like a never-ending cycle of 'assignments' rather than actual schooling. Just ensure you check the new school's internal curriculum, as the gap in Science topics can be quite huge if you move mid-term.

Hi, we moved our daughter from IB to CBSE in grade 8 last year. Honestly, the workload in IB was becoming too much for her to handle without constant private tutoring, and we felt she wasn't actually grasping the core concepts. The transition was a bit tough in Maths and Science since CBSE is much more content-heavy, but she is way less stressed now and finally has time for her badminton coaching again.

I am actually in the same boat! May I ask which board you are considering? My son is in MYP right now and I feel like he is just writing endless reflections instead of learning actual fundamentals. I am worried about the shift to the Indian competitive exam environment later.
